Health & Human Services 

The Health and Human Services facet is designed to respond to health inequities prevalent in black communities, by facilitating programs that encourage optimal health, to eradicate chronic health disparities.

 

As the Lansing/East Lansing (MI) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated we strive to uphold these standards and are dedicated to causes such as Chronic Kidney Disease and spread awareness through education, advocacy, and community events.

Black KARE Baxter

The Lansing (MI) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated has been selected to receive a Black K.A.R.E. Initiative sub-grant from The Central Area of the Links, Incorporated.

 

The primary goal of the Black K.A.R.E. Initiative is to raise awareness of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in Black communities, with a focus on its risk factors, complications, treatment - and how to reduce the risk of kidney failure and/or improve outcomes for people living with the condition.

Mission: to prevent kidney disease and improve the quality of life for those living with it.  For the past 65+ years, the NKFM has strived to deliver programs, services, and resources to those who need them most.

Kidney Disease affects an Estimated 37 million people in the U.S. With our Fresh Food Friday program we were able to support the Greater Lansing Community with free healthy food to promote a healthy diet which is an important part of living well with Kidney Disease.
